Gong Zheng, Deputy Secretary of CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee and Mayor of Shanghai Municipal People’s Government, visited tech innovation companies in Minhang District on August 9th. Mr. Gong pointed out that it is necessary to conscientiously study and implement the spirit of the 3rd Plenary Session of the 20th CPC (Communist Party of China) Central Committee and General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speech during his inspection of Shanghai. In line with the requirements of the 5th Plenary Session of the Shanghai Municipal Committee, he called for making every effort to build and optimize the innovation ecosystem, strengthen the central role of enterprises in tech innovation, and support tech companies in leading the innovation race. He also stressed that it is essential to facilitate the deep integration of scientific and technological innovation with industrial innovation, accelerate breakthroughs, and the conversion of innovative results, making the three leading industries the main drivers of new quality productive forces and providing solid support for building a modern industrial system in Shanghai.

Shanghai TCab Tech Co., Ltd. is pioneering the development of manned tiltrotor eVTOLs (Electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing Aircraft) in China, leveraging aviation, electrification technology, and intelligent algorithms. During the visit to the company’s exhibition hall, Mr. Gong examined the eVTOL prototype and engaged in in-depth discussions with company leaders about global low-altitude economy trends, product development, and business models. Mr. Gong emphasized that the low-altitude economy is gradually becoming a trillion-dollar industry blue ocean. He highlighted the need for Shanghai to accelerate the improvement of supporting infrastructure and service capabilities, expand application scenarios, promote commercial pilots and large-scale applications, and cultivate new consumption scenarios under the “low-altitude+” framework. Mr. Gong also stated that it is necessary for government departments to promptly remove obstacles and address issues for businesses, assist them in seizing market opportunities, accelerate their growth, and help them become industry leaders.
