On October 9, 2026, the “Malaysian Engineers, Global Impact: TCab Tech E20 eVTOL Showcase”, jointly organized by the Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corporation (SIDEC), TCab Tech, and IOI City Mall, officially opened at IOI City Mall in Putrajaya, Malaysia.

Featuring the Malaysian debut of TCab Tech’s independently developed five-seat tilt-rotor E20 eVTOL, the month-long showcase marks the company’s formal entry into the Malaysian market and a new milestone in its Southeast Asia expansion.

During the opening ceremony, TCab Tech Founder and CEO Mr Ng Yon Wui and SIDEC CEO Mr Yong Kai Ping exchanged the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to explore E20 eVTOL commercialization pathways and advance the development of Malaysia’s Low Altitude Economy ecosystem.

The exchange of the MOU was witnessed by YAB Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari, Menteri Besar of Selangor, YB Mr Ng Sze Han, Selangor State Executive Councillor for Investment, Trade and Mobility, together with Mr Wilfred Vui Hiung Wong, General Manager of IOI City Mall, and other invited guests.

TCab Tech is an aviation technology company specializing in the research, development, and commercialization of electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft (eVTOL). Its independently developed five-seat E20 eVTOL adopts a tilt-rotor configuration and is designed around safety, efficiency, convenience, and affordability, targeting applications including tourist routes, intercity travel, and intracity travel.

The Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corporation (SIDEC) is a key state-backed organization within the Selangor ecosystem, supporting technology innovation, digital economy development, and industry ecosystem growth. SIDEC focuses on connecting innovation resources, facilitating collaboration among industry stakeholders, and supporting the development of technology-driven initiatives in Selangor.

Under the MOU, TCab Tech will contribute its expertise in eVTOL research, development, and manufacturing, while SIDEC will leverage its local innovation ecosystem, industry networks, and coordination capabilities to support TCab Tech’s engagement with relevant government agencies, the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM), and industry stakeholders, advancing both the certification pathway and future commercialization of the E20 eVTOL in Malaysia.

As part of TCab Tech’s Southeast Asia strategy, the company will establish its regional business center in Malaysia to support commercial development, industry collaboration, and long-term engagement with the local ecosystem, while providing an important base for broader regional expansion.

At the event, TCab Tech Founder and CEO Ng Yon Wui noted that the development of the Low Altitude Economy depends not only on aircraft technologies, but also on the coordinated development of certification, regulation, infrastructure, industrial capabilities, and practical applications.

Malaysia’s aerospace manufacturing, Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO), engineering services, and aviation talent base provide a strong industrial base for the adoption and development of emerging aviation technologies. Its diverse geography, tourism resources, and growing demand for regional connectivity also create favorable conditions for Low Altitude Economy applications.

Against this backdrop, TCab Tech will explore potential applications of the E20 eVTOL in Malaysia across tourist routes, intercity travel, and intracity travel, including connections between transportation hubs and tourism destinations, point-to-point travel between nearby cities, and new mobility options between key urban locations.

As part of the broader collaboration between TCab Tech and SIDEC, Ng Yon Wui was appointed as Industry Advisor to SIDEC, in recognition of his extensive experience in aircraft design, eVTOL technology, aviation certification, and the global advanced air mobility ecosystem.

In this advisory role, Ng Yon Wui will provide strategic industry perspectives to SIDEC on the development of high-technology industries in Selangor, particularly in aerospace, advanced air mobility, autonomous technologies, and emerging innovation sectors. Drawing on his experience in product development, certification, aerospace manufacturing, and commercialization, together with his international industry network, he will also support SIDEC in strengthening connections with regulators, industry leaders, strategic investors, and other stakeholders across the global aviation ecosystem.

The appointment broadens the scope of cooperation between TCab Tech and SIDEC beyond E20 eVTOL commercialization, creating further opportunities for industry exchange, ecosystem development, and collaboration in advanced technology sectors.

The E20 eVTOL is currently progressing through its Type Certification (TC) process with the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC). TCab Tech has completed key certification milestones, including the signing of the Certification Basis (G-1), Means of Compliance (G-2), and Certification Plan (CP), and is progressing toward Type Certification (TC) according to its established roadmap.

At the same time, TCab Tech has been actively advancing the regulatory and technical preparations required for the E20 eVTOL’s future entry into overseas markets, including Malaysia, with continued engagement on applicable airworthiness requirements and certification pathways. On September 21, 2026, the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) and the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) signed an aviation safety cooperation Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), further strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two civil aviation authorities. The agreement covers areas including airworthiness, aviation organization certification, personnel licensing, operational oversight, and the mutual recognition of compliance findings and certificates.

Malaysia is also continuing to develop the regulatory environment required to support Advanced Air Mobility (AAM). CAAM has initiated preparations including the establishment of an AAM Technical Working Group, advancement of the AAM Concept of Operations (ConOps), exploration of regulatory sandbox mechanisms, and development of a national AAM roadmap.

Together, these developments provide a stronger regulatory and institutional  foundation for the future introduction of eVTOL aircraft in Malaysia. TCab Tech will continue to advance the certification and commercialization preparations for the E20 eVTOL in the market, while deepening engagement with relevant authorities, industry partners, and ecosystem stakeholders.

With Malaysia serving as an important regional base, TCab Tech aims to strengthen its long-term presence in the local market and extend its eVTOL commercialization and industry partnerships across Southeast Asia.
